What should you know before choosing between repairing or replacing your IT devices or repair them?

When the pandemic took hold last year, many businesses found themselves in a situation where they had to facilitate, at speed, a workforce equipped to work from home.
In the planning process (although there was little time for real planning!), it was essential for the businesses taking this ‘continue business from home’ option that their employees could be set up to work remotely on any device.
There was a lot to consider, and decisions had to be made quickly. Your team had to have access to the right network and the additional security required when working remotely, and data protection needed to rank high on the list of priorities.
If that applied to you, you would probably have seen your IT budgets hit a far higher figure than anticipated, as preparing for this scenario would not have been cheap. And it probably hadn’t been budgeted for! So, it may have been necessary to make decisions without the time to consider…

Once the dust has settled and the world has found a sense of normality, you can probably make more informed decisions around whether your choices in 2020 were the right ones.

Fact One: A five-year-old PC could cost twice as much to run as a new one.
Fact Two: If a device is more than three years old, it could cheaper to buy a new one.
Fact Three: Once a PC is over four years old, it can experience 55% more security incidents than it did in the first three years
Based on this information, the best time to refresh your devices is around three years. But that decision is ultimately yours to make (with our help if you need it, of course!) because each business’s circumstances will be different.
